Tigers Request to Government:
Dear Sir, Please take just a few minutes of your busy schedule and digest the website www.getbritainbuilding.org and the Plan B campaign. As a supplier to the Construction Industry I ask you consider and support, I await your response with interest, Paul Shepherd Tiger Engineered Products Ltd supports UK business

Government Response:
We are aware of the ongoing campaigns such as this and LEK Consulting’s 2009 report on the benefits of investment in construction and the £1 invested generates £2.84 of economic activity conclusion. Mark Prisk the construction Minister met the FMB President, Vice President and Director General last November who raised similar concerns to yours.

The spending review took some hard-hitting decisions which although not ideal recognised that deficit reduction is essential. Although the spending review did maintain important programmes such as Crossrail, 600 schools projects still going ahead and £4.4bn for social housing.

Also Chris Huhne, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change recently announced the ‘Green Deal’ which was put before Parliament last month as part of the Energy Bill. The Green Deal which apart from saving energy users money through energy efficiency savings has the potential to support tens of thousands of jobs by 2030. Insulation installers and the retrofit supply chain both stand to benefit from this energy makeover. It is anticipated that the Green Deal will be launched in Autumn 2012.

Regards

Peter Payne
